Truth
The world is round, and the place which may seem like the end may also be the beginning. – Ivy Baker Priest
The truth was that the Earth was round, even when most people believed that it was flat. One can envisage a scenario where you were considered insane for suggesting that the earth is round.
In the past, they would think I was writing fiction to suggest I could go all the way around the world in sixty days, but I am doing that right now.
Our education system encourages us to use logic which then leads us to believe that truth is truth. However, even my logical mind can appreciate that sometimes truth cannot be verified. It is why we have a jury in a trial. The jury is required to decide on the truth of guilty or innocent in a system where one can employs liars to turn lies into truth. In some places, they even dress the accused to look like a prison inmate for the trial. In some places, they put the accused in a metal cage in the court room.
I was in a hostel near Red Square in Moscow. A young Russian asked me: “Andy. Do you think Armstrong walk on moon?” I answered that it is a difficult question. He replied: “Andy. I don’t think Armstrong walk on moon.” It would suggest the Russians got the same coverage as we did. I have some reservations. Many say that it is impossible for a human to pass through the Van Allen radiation belt. I also notice no stars in the sky scenes. Regions on earth far from the light pollution from cities have very clear display of stars. This is not evident on the moon images. I also noticed the Hasselblad cameras hanging on their fronts bouncing around. I doubt they would function in those conditions and the buttons and adjustment would be impossible in their gloves. However, a few false images does not mean that they did not go to the moon. The demeanor of the astronauts does not match what I would expect from successful moon visitors.
There is also a problem with belief. Truth and belief are not connected. Some may believe something that is not true. Others believe things that are true. Many have problems with the belief systems in religion. Jesus is a prphet to Muslims and some say he was a very good prophet. But they don’t believe that he is the ‘son of god’. The also doubt that he was nailed to a scafold. My understaning is they believe the Romans nailed the wrong person to the cross. However, I recognose that the children in Christendom are brough up using Jesus as a role model. The real Christianity appears to be the religion that the mothers teach to their sons – backed up by their fathers — even if they never mention the name Jesus.
